JURIDISCHE INFORMATIEPLATFORMEN / PROJECT EXPERIENCE

Ten legal information platforms, one technical foundation

Ricardo van der Spoel develops and maintains a network of ten legal information platforms as an in-house project. The websites share frontend components and technical helpers, while each label retains its own domain, visual identity, navigation and content. This case explains the software behind the network.

An in-house platform project by Ricardo van der Spoel. This case describes technical development and maintenance. More about Ricardo’s background.

The challenge

  • Maintain ten distinct labels without implementing the same technical changes ten times.
  • Preserve each area of law’s identity and content structure.
  • Connect articles, practical resources and language versions through accessible navigation.
  • Restrict editorial administration through access rights for each label.

Ricardo’s contribution

A shared frontend

The Astro sites share components for navigation, language selection, footers and structured data. Domains, colours, content and specialist functions remain configured for each label.

Distinct routes and resources

Each area of law has its own information architecture. Articles, decision guides and calculators are linked from relevant topics; specialist legal data remains with the relevant label.

Multilingual information

The platform supports language versions of information and forms. Language routes and navigation connect those versions. Translation and technical publication are separate from substantive legal review.

Central administration with label permissions

Jurismedia provides the restricted administration layer. Editorial records and workspaces are linked to a site ID; access to one label does not automatically grant access to another.

What the work delivered

  • One maintainable technical foundation for ten separate public websites.
  • Reusable frontend improvements with room for differences between areas of law.
  • A distinct domain and presentation for each label.
  • Public information alongside restricted administration with permissions for each label.

A PRACTICAL NEXT STEP

Relate project experience to your own situation

These cases describe Ricardo’s work and contribution through Van der Spoel Development. Look for similarities in the technical challenge: connecting existing systems, modernising software while it is in use or defining responsibilities within a team. The appropriate approach also depends on your source data and operating environment.
